Department of hospital management ,Deccan school of management was established by dar-us-salam education trust in the year 1998.The college is affiliated to osmania university, which is one of the oldest universities in the country (established in the year 1918). The college is also approved by All india council for technical education (AICTE), which is the regulatory body in India which regulates engineering ,management and other professional programmes. The college has its campus at Owaisi hospital and research center, which is the teaching hospital for deccan college of medical sciences. The college offers masters degree in hospital management(MHM).

Hospital management has become one of the important career options. Today hospitals needs to be managed by professionals, who are specially trained for it.In India hospital manahement programmes are offered at different levels. few universities and colleges offer it at the bachelors level and award the degree of B.H.A. Few medical colleges open their programme only for medical graduates and award M.D (Hospital Administration) . Some institutions award masters in hospital administration or MHA. Some offer it as a specialisation of management programme and award degree as MBA (Hospital management) or MBA (Health care management) . Some institutions with the approval of AICTE awards poat graduate diploma in hospital management or PGDHM. But Department of hospital management, since it has affiliation to university and approval from AICTE awards masters degree in hospital management or MHM. The degree is awarded by Osmania university. The course is spread over 5 semesters,the last semester is entirely devoted to internship.There are 24 theory papers . besides there are practicals in the form of hospital visits,Know your Hospitals, Dessertation.Graduates with 50% marks are eligible for admission.previous students include, doctors, nurses,pharmacy graduates,nurses, catholic priests, engineer,physiotherapist and other graduates and post graduates. Studeats are placed in various hospitals, consultacncy firms, health insurance firms, academic institutions in india and abroad.
